About

Writers.com Books is a publishing entity established in 2003 by Writers On the Net. Writers On the Net has been offering online instruction, resources and services for writers since 1965 -- the first private writing school on the Net. Considering our background, it's not surprising that our first publication was a book about words -- The Word Book: A Guide to Misunderstood, Misused & Confusing Words With Bonus Quirky Tangents & Illuminating Quotations. We'll eventually continue to publish other books of interest for writers, but we also have two imprints Cælum Press and infrapress. They, too, have been fairly inactive for a few years, but there should be some more publications some day.

The folks behind Writers.com Books are Mark Dahlby and Paula Guran. Dahlby is a mysterious character who created and has been running Writers On the Net since its beginning. He travels a lot. Along with traipsing across the continental U.S., visiting Hawaii and various countries in Europe, he's been to Nepal, India, and other exotic locales. Now he's settled down somewhere in California. Who knows? He may even get back to writing one of these days.

Guran has a lengthy bio somewhere. But she's probably not updated it lately. Since she's the one responsible for the running of Writers.com Books, blame her for getting too busy with other things to do much with it. She has big plans though. We'll see... Unlike Mr. Dahlby, she's never been to Nepal, but sometimes the plumbing in her picturesque house resembles that more commonly found in Third World countries.
